Patients come to me at different stages of evaluation and treatment for infertility. I offer basic fertility evaluation and treatments. However, if you are entirely new to the infertility process, don’t worry, I am here to help.
Choosing a provider to start your evaluation for building your family is challenging. I know that you have many choices and thus appreciate the opportunity to help you start your fertility evaluation. You can rest assured that every clinical decision will be weighed carefully to make sure that the best approach for your situation is selected. You are always encouraged to be an active participant in your evaluation and treatment process.
During your consultation, you will likely have some of the following tests:
1. A semen analysis for the male partner
2. General labs to evaluate your health and hormones
3. An AMH level to check your egg reserve
4. Routine blood test to prepare you for pregnancy (OB panel, thyroid check)
If you have already been trying to conceive for more than a year or are older than 35, you will probably benefit from a proactive approach by starting treatment.
I offer basic ovulation induction treatment using Clomid or Femara to improve ovulation. The treatment will depend on your initial consultation. Clomid and Femara are oral medications that induce the release of FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) from the pituitary to act on the ovaries to promote the growth of the follicle. This helps to overcome the subtle effects of stress that can impair follicular growth and ovulation.
At times, assistance with ovulation release is needed and ovulation can be induced by using an HCG injection which is very similar in chemical structure to LH. HCG is effective when applied to mature follicles.
Ovulation Induction is managed in each cycle with Point of Care Ultrasound to monitor follicle growth. These are the most common ultrasounds done:
- Baseline
- Mid-Cycle
- Post Ovulation
- Pregnancy Confirmation
Please feel free to come in for a consultation.
The incorporation and performance of limited ultrasound expands the care of women during pregnancy by identifying a pregnancy, its viability, and dating. Evaluating fetal growth and fetal well-being during pregnancy is an essential part of prenatal care.
Basic gynecologic ultrasound may be used to recognize the normal uterus, ovaries, and common variations of normal while evaluating the endometrial stripe, location of an IUD, recognition of pelvic masses, and assisted reproductive techniques.
The Midwife Sonography Certificate gives midwives a critical edge in promoting public safety in women's point-of-care ultrasound. The Midwife Sonography examination assesses the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities in the areas of the female reproductive system as well as the fetus in the first, second, and third trimesters of pregnancy.
